Cala Violina white-sand beach in the Maremma nature reserve

is a small cove in the Maremma Grossetana, in the municipality of Scarlino, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea within the Bandite di Scarlino nature reserve. The cove is enclosed between the two promontories of Punta Martina to the north, which separates it from Cala Martina, and Punta Le Canne to the south. The white sand that characterizes the beach also gave the cove its name, referring to the sounds it "makes" when walked on, in the absence of significant noise sources. It can be reached on foot via a 30-minute path through the woods adjacent to the sea. From June 1st to September 30th, reservations are required (700 places per day).

Cala Violina

CALA VIOLINA (UNESCO HERITAGE SITE) (Grosseto)This location is approximately 2 and a half hours from our location. It's so called because the quartz grains that make up its sand, when walked on or moved by the wind, emit a distinctive sound reminiscent of the notes of a violin. This phenomenon is known as "sounding beach" and makes the cove a unique place, where the sand, in a relatively quiet environment, produces a crystalline and melodic sound.
